High School Youth Group and Confirmation Class
- Sally Caniparoli
In the Youth Group and Confirmation Class, we strive to teach young people how to make moral decisions based on Catholic Christian values. Our goal at St. Frederic Parish is to help young people to feel like a valued part of the church, through involvement of our youth ministry and by reaching out to serve people in the community. We help our youth develop a better understanding of their parents and to learn how to communicate better with others by assisting them in developing healthy self-concepts and providing our youth with guidance as they face personal, spiritual, and vocational decisions.
St. Frederic Parish helps to provide a community for young people where they can develop meaningful relationships with other youth and adult leaders by facilitating our youth to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We assist them in developing an appreciation for what is unique about the Catholic faith by practicing a better understanding of the Holy Bible and what it means to us today. Through the Holy Mass and other forms of prayer, we teach our youth to pray and to foster healing and reconciliation in our young people's lives and relationships, and understand the place of the sacraments in the Christian life. Additionally, we give our youth the opportunity to fulfill leadership roles and to foster the spiritual growth of young people through liturgies and prayer experiences.
Offered Sundays during the 10:00 am Mass. Just before the readings, children (ages 3 and up) are invited to the altar for a special blessing from Father. They leave, with a teacher, to a nearby classroom. The children hear the Gospel at their level of understanding, talk about its meaning in their lives, and pray with the other children. They return to their families after the homily.
The second Sunday of each month is a Children's Mass, and children stay with their families for this Mass.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
- Maureen Sloan
The Mission statement of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul states:
"Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering, in the tradition of their founder Blessed Frederic Ozanam and their patron St. Vincent de Paul"
In St Frederic Parish our members provide outreach from the parish to those in our community facing a crisis in their lives. We provide a HelpLine (1-888-375-6074) which those needing assistance can call and leave a message describing their need. Our members answer these calls on a daily basis, and try to provide assistance with rent, utilities, gas money, bus tickets, food, prescriptions, furniture, clothing, etc. We work closely with local agencies and other churches to try to ensure that everyone is assisted in some way.
Funds for our work are provided by parishioners through our monthly collection, and from various grants and donations which come in from other sources.
If you need assistance or more information, please call Monday - Friday 1-888-375-6074.

BE A DISCIPLE.
Having a child or children is one of life’s greatest blessings. The greatest gift you can give your child is sharing your faith and building theirs. By signing your child/children up for religious education classes, you are helping them to know God and become a disciple of Christ. Our Director of Religious Education is Diana Messenger, please contact her at 503-397-0148.

Rite of Cristian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
- Tom and Timari Prevish
The RCIA, the Catholic Church’s way of initiating a new disciple, is much more than a program. It is a learning and loving process in which conversation of the heart brings one to Jesus Christ. Through RCIA, we answer the Gospel invitation:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your soul will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
- Jacinta Marsh
Spend some quiet time growing in your prayer life, learning about our faith, and sharing with your fellow mothers in a peaceful setting. In conjunction with St. Wenceslaus Parish of Scappoose, we are a group of Catholic moms with school age children that gather monthly to share about parenting, family life and supporting spiritual growth within our lives. We promote prayer, community support, and sharing ideas on how to live our Catholic heritage and faith in our own families. Our group aspires to continually be involved in parish life by organizing and participating in family orientated events within the parish.

Our mission is to provide a meal and place to help our families “celebrate the life” of their loved one at a reception following a funeral. Receptions provide a place of hospitality for families and friends to gather for fellowship, to share, reminisce and remember the life of their loved one and their happy times together.
